Happy Hump Day!
Happy Hump Day everyone! We hope you are having a pawesome week!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that some dogs hump to determine their place in the pack to see how other dogs react? It can sometimes be a sign of dominance or insecurity. Hormones also play a big part as to why some dogs hump, even after being neutered. Both female and male dogs are prone to humping. This is natural behaviour for dogs. Some dogs who have not been socialised properly may become confused and become overly excited and end up humping as they are unsure of what else to do. Dogs which excessively hump may have underlying issues. Some possible issues include:
- urinary tract infection
- urinary incontinence
- allergies
Dog's also sniff each other’s “butts” to not only greet other dogs but to also learn some of the following about their dog friends:
- Their diet
- Gender
- What kind of mood they are in
- How healthy they are
- It can help them recognise whether they have met before ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A dog's sense of smell is extraordinary being 10,000-100,000x better than humans. Funnily enough they have a special part in their noses which blocks out the smell of other dog's faeces when they do sniff another dog's behind.
